Today's world needs leadership at all levels and across all professions. Food science and technology is no different. Food scientists are positioned to lead the advancement of scientific and technologic innovation to ensure a safe, nutritious, abundant and accessible food supply worldwide. But scientific acumen will not be enough...
Leadership means having a vision of what you want to achieve, knowing your strengths and how to leverage them to accomplish your goals and self understanding to apply your leadership skills in effective ways.
If you are a student or new professional, establishing your leadership profile early in your career is essential. And this workshop was designed with you in mind! During the 3-hour interactive workshop, you will explore commonly held myths about leadership, discover your leadership profile and build a short term action plan for achieving one of your goals. You also will hear stories of leadership success from the facilitators who will share their personal perspectives on leadership.

An intereactive exercise on leadership truths and myths
Dis covering and exploring the 5 practices of exemplary leadership

Developing a personal action plan for achieving one of your goals
This leadership workshop is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as young professionals (<5 years after graduation) in the field of Food Science and Technology who will be attending the IUFoST Congress. Participation will be limited to the first 60 persons who pre-register for the workshop. Participants will learn more about the attributes and characteristics that leaders posses, focus on their behavioral profile and how it can be applied to their personal and professional activities. It will enable young food scientists to understand the leadership styles that are currently used in the field. Small group exercises will be used to highlight key leadership concepts addressed in the program.
